Helping Immy feel like herself again
New client Immy came to SANDY after having her hair cut much shorter than she had hoped. The result did not reflect what she had envisioned, and she no longer felt quite like herself.
She loved having longer hair and wanted to restore the length she had lost without waiting months or years for it to grow back.
Immy dreamed of a modern interpretation of the iconic layered hairstyles of the 1990s, with softness, movement and natural-looking volume.
The challenge was not simply to make Immy’s hair longer. We needed to add the right amount of length and fullness, blend the hair extensions seamlessly with her natural hair and create the shape she had originally hoped to achieve.
Starting with a personalised hair consultation
Every hair extension journey at SANDY begins with a thorough consultation.
Before recommending a method or quantity of hair, we assess the health and condition of the client’s natural hair. We discuss desired length, volume, colour, styling preferences and the practicalities of caring for extensions at home.
For Immy, this consultation gave us the opportunity to understand what she did not love about her existing haircut and what she wanted her hair to look and feel like instead.
Then, we created a realistic hair extension and care plan designed to restore her length while protecting her natural hair and achieving a soft, natural-looking result.
Creating the right colour, length and fullness
To achieve Immy’s soft, 90s-inspired layered haircut, the SANDY stylists and hair extension team used:
- 150 grams of premium human hair
- Three rows of professionally fitted weft hair extensions
- A custom blend of two complementary shades
Blending two extension colours helped us create a more dimensional and natural-looking finish. Natural hair is rarely one completely uniform colour, so combining carefully selected shades allowed the extensions to reflect light and blend more convincingly with Immy’s own hair.
The amount and placement of the hair were equally important. Three carefully fitted rows provided the length and fullness she wanted while allowing us to create balance through the mid-lengths and ends.
Weft hair extensions do more than add length
Once the weft extensions were fitted, the hair was cut and shaped into soft layers to create movement, bounce and a beautifully blended finish.
Rather than looking like separate pieces of extension hair, the new length became part of the overall hairstyle. The finished result looked full, healthy and natural.
Importantly, this transformation was not about creating the longest hair possible. It was about listening to what Immy wanted, understanding why her previous haircut no longer felt right and finding a solution that restored both her hair and her confidence.
