Thinking of swapping your blonde hair for a darker hue?
When transitioning your hair colour from blonde to brunette, there are some important things to know before making the change.
1. DON’T RUSH INTO IT.
Colouring your hair from light to dark can be an exciting proposition. Like all hair transformations, we always recommend not rushing into it.
Find some hair inspiration to determine which tone of brown you prefer – cool or warm.
If you’re not ready to farewell being blonde entirely, you can start gradually by adding lowlights to your foils and a deeper, more natural looking root fade.
2. IT’S A PROCESS.
Transitioning from blonde to brunette is not as easy as putting a semi all over your hair and, voila, you’re brunette.
Your first appointment will require two colour applications. The first application is to fill the blonde and, after it is rinsed out, a second colour application is required to reach your desired colour result.
3. MAINTENANCE.
Just like when you were blonde, your new brunette locks will still require maintenance and repair. After all, the damage from bleaching your hair blonde is still lurking beneath that new darker colour.
To prevent your hair from fading, you will need to revamp your hair products to compliment your new colour change.
4. MOISTURISING TREATMENTS.
It’s super important to keep your lengths and ends nice and healthy. Dryness – and therefore porosity – will make your colour fade.
